Bernardston and Gill did not share in the bountiful snow - limited riding on thin cover.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010Leyden - OUCH! That rain hurt. Limited riding, thin cover, open water. Grooming is suspended until conditions improve.

Bernardston and Gill - washed out.

Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Leyden - Groomed tonite down to Colrain and back, over to fire pit and back, from fire pit to 1st intersection over to Glabach's and the new trail all twice. 60 miles of grooming so far this year.Big thanks to Lance Fritz.Where he was logging on the new trail was rutted and very knarly. Looks like today he went with his tractor and a box scraper and smoothed it all out.Holes are all filling in nicely all over.Trails I did tonite are all good to excellent at this time.Hope to finish the rest this week. Monday, January 11, 2010. Leyden - There's still riding in Leyden. Trails conditions are variable with some bare spots, some bony spots, and some awesome spots.  Most trails have been groomed. Again, all in all not too bad for this level of snow.

Bernardston - one word - "horrible" -courtesy of President Brad Stafford.

Gill - no reports yet.

If you're out riding, please help out by stopping to move that branch in the trail. Don't forget you can post your own trail reports, comments, and pictures on the club's Facebook page.

Think Snow!

Wednesday, January 6, 2010. Leyden - most trails have been groomed. Snow cover is thin, but surprisingly good in many places. The snow from December 10 set up a decent base, although there is still some open water. Everything is passable, but use caution as there are rough spots. There is logging in progress on the east end of the new trail (top of the ridge). All in all, not too bad for not much snow.

If you're out riding, please help out by stopping to move that branch in the trail. Don't forget you can post your own trail reports, comments, and pictures on the club's Facebook page.

Think Snow!

December 10, 2009  It looks like mother nature is going to start sending us the white gold that we snowmobilers wish for all year. I know all of you, including myself, are anxious to get out for the first ride of the year.
Once again, when there is enough snow I hope and urge everyone to use EXTREME CAUTION when you're out there, especially the first time. As every year, there have been some trail changes (some listed below), trail closures and delicate land owner situations that make it imperative that everyone plays by the rules and obeys all trail signs to insure our trails stay open. Many hours that could have been used to work on the trails this year were spent repairing relationships with land owners.

Also this year due to a lack of time and manpower not all trails have been walked thru and not all bridges have been checked.
GO SLOW

Please pass this along to any and everyone that you know that uses our trail system.
If you have any concerns or issues either with other riders or find a section or trail that needs attention you may email me directly at Nvrplay2ty@yahoo.com

Trail changes to note:
Bernardston: headed west just after crossing the 91 overpass you can stay next to the river headed to the mailbox intersection

Bernardston: just south of the Hollywood there are new fences in the field. Our trail and gates are marked. STAY ON THE TRAILS

Leyden: headed east from the fire pit there is an auxiliary trail that can bypass the long winding hill

RIDE SAFE AND SMART SO WE ALL CAN KEEP RIDING!!

Brad Stafford
